Biography

As a 20-year teacher veteran and recent Educational Leadership Ph.D. graduate, Dr. Jaime Bonato provides a unique view on education with perspective from both inside the classroom and from a larger organizational view. Most recently her work has focused on teacher retention. She has been involved in local, state, and national education initiatives and has spoken internationally about teacher education.

She is an active member of many educational organizations, and she serves on multiple boards and panels. Dr. Bonato has presented at local, national, and international organization conferences including, the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics, California Educational Research Association, California Mathematics Council, and the Mofet Institute (Israel). She has been featured for her work with the California Department of Education’s State Network of Educators group, has been a guest on multiple educational podcasts, and her teaching was featured in an instructional video on the state of California’s website. 

Throughout her career, Dr. Bonato’s main focus is on student achievement. Her many roles have allowed her to see the education systems working. Dr. Bonato has been an active member of her local school site (serving as department chair, site council, and other leadership roles) giving her insight into school site workings. She has also worked as a school district “Teacher on Special Assignment” supporting teachers and site leaders in implementing effective instructional practices which allowed her to see the larger landscape of a school district. As a panel advisor to the State of California for instructional and curriculum, she has had the opportunity to also see education through a statewide landscape.
